About us
Meet the Baker
Hi! I’m Abby — the owner, maker, and creative mind behind Deer Creek Delights. But more than that, I’m a mom, pastor’s wife, daughter, sister, gardener, and crafter who loves to be at home. I learned the art of baking and joy of sharing with others from my grandmother. While there were times she didn’t have more than a few dollars, she could always bake a cake or make a meal for someone who needed it.
How it Started
Several years ago, after we’d been married for a short time, my husband came home and informed me that he’d volunteered me to make a pie for a business lunch — my response was “who makes pies?” With some hard work, however, I managed to create an apple pie that became an instant hit expected to show up every holiday season.
The one year I decided to let it go by unnoticed, I was immedately asked “when are the pies coming to the office?” My husband suggested that I might have built up a potential customer base, but I couldn’t believe anyone would ever buy my work. After several weeks of continued encouragement from family and friends, though, I offered my first few pies for sale on Facebook just in time for Christmas… and the community responded.
The Next Chapter
Deer Creek Delights was formally launched the next year in 2019 at our local Farmers’ Market with just a handful of flavors offered in only one size. Since then, we’ve continued to expand our lineup to meet the tastes and needs of each customer.
Some things never change, though. Each pie still starts with a fresh hand-made crust, just like Grandma used to do. All of our recipes follow a “keep it simple, sweetie” rule, letting sweet natural fruit do exactly what God made it to do. Each pie is a unique work of art designed to delight, down to the last bite.
So what’s next? Well… that’s still baking!
